A 32-year-old man from Gujarat, India has been arrested in Mumbai for traveling to three countries in the past five years using a fake Portuguese passport. The man, named Mujib Hussain Kazi, was originally from the Kheda district in Gujarat. According to Kazi, he went to the UK in 2010 on a student visa, but stayed and worked there illegally after the visa expired.

In 2018, he obtained a Portuguese passport through an agent and visited India, France, and the UK using this passport. Kazi was caught at the Mumbai airport and was detained by immigration officials when his passport was flagged.

The Portuguese government had issued a look-out circular against Kazi, stating that he was an imposter using a fraudulent identity.

Kazi has been charged with cheating, forgery, and providing false information to obtain a passport. The authorities are investigating how Kazi managed to fly under the radar for five years and will be sending official requests via diplomatic channels to Portugal, France, and the UK.
