A meeting held on Wednesday at the Ministry of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security, the minutes of which were released today by the Directorate-General for Employment and Labour Relations (DGERT), revealed an agreement to defer negotiations on effective means to a later date, following ANA’s request, until the full scope of minimum services for the strike has been defined.
The minutes highlight ANA’s emphasis on reaching an agreement regarding the principle of integrating various necessary services to conduct the minimum services, already defined or to be defined.
Accordingly, the company requested Sitava to send the agreements already reached by the union, delaying the negotiation of effective means.
ANA stated it is currently unable to present any concrete proposal for minimum services, as it has not been informed about the decreed minimum services for the Autonomous Region of the Azores. From the airlines, the best information suggests that, on a global average, about 30% of the scheduled flights for that day have been defined.
“Given this information and the fact that other unions with many associates have not formally joined this strike, ANA cannot provide concrete numbers,” the document states.
Sitava explained that during the ongoing meetings and agreements, it has been careful to maintain consistency and continuity in defining minimum services for airport activities.
The CGTP and UGT have called for a general strike on December 11 in response to the government’s proposed labor legislation reform. This will be the first strike involving both trade union centers since June 2013, when Portugal was under ‘troika’ intervention.
