
Angola’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 1.82% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with a 0.5% increase over the previous quarter, according to the latest quarterly national accounts.
During this timeframe, the petroleum sector experienced a contraction of 7.77% for the fourth consecutive quarter, while the non-petroleum sector grew by 4.14%, an increase of 0.70 percentage points from the previous quarter.
The decline in the petroleum sector during July, August, and September resulted in a negative contribution of 1.94 percentage points to the overall GDP variation, largely due to a 10.79% drop in oil extraction, as reported by INE.
The fishing and aquaculture sectors saw a decrease of 6.73%, detracting 0.13 percentage points from the global GDP.
Notable positive performances were seen in the information and communication sectors, which grew by 55.67% year-on-year, positively impacting the GDP variation by 0.16 percentage points. This growth was attributed to increased revenue from telephone and internet services.
The accommodation and food services sector also expanded by 13.62%, manufacturing products by 13.02%, public administration, defense, and mandatory social security by 9.21%, and financial intermediation and insurance by 6.95%.
In the first nine months of 2025, Angola’s GDP increased by 2.15% compared to the same period in 2024. The largest contributors were the information and communication activities at 40.46%, diamond extraction at 15.54%, and public administration, defense, and mandatory social security at 8.03%.
The GDP in the third quarter of 2025 amounted to 28.04 trillion kwanzas (26 billion euros), with 649.48 billion kwanzas derived from net product taxes and subsidies.
