The President of the Angolan Association of Hotels and Resorts (AHRA), Ramiro Barreira, stated that the sector is prepared to accommodate the high number of participants at the summit, noting that the Angolan capital has over 15,000 beds available for lodging.
Speaking to Rádio Nacional de Angola, Barreira emphasized the summit’s significance, expressing optimism about its potential to generate substantial revenue for the sector, which he says is fully equipped to host the delegations.
“In terms of dining, we have many restaurants that can aid in developing our tourism, and our travel agencies can play a very important role, working with all tour operators to introduce our visitors not only to our restaurants but also to our culture,” stated the AHRA President.
Luanda will host the 17th edition of the U.S.-Africa Business Summit, the most significant business forum between the United States and the African continent, from June 22 to 25.
For Ramiro Barreira, the Luanda summit represents a critical moment “to promote Angola as a tourist destination and also as a country where significant investments can be made.”
“This will be a great opportunity that stimulates investment in various sectors that can aid the development of our country,” he further highlighted.
More than 1,500 participants, including Heads of State, Prime Ministers, African Ministers, senior U.S. government officials, and business leaders from the two continents, are expected in Angola’s capital for this event, co-organized by the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and the Government of the Republic of Angola.
In addition to the host and President of Angola, João Lourenço, confirmations have been received from the Heads of State of Botswana, Duma Boko; Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo; the Democratic Republic of Congo, Felix Tshisekedi; Ethiopia, Taye Atske Selassie; Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah; and Zambia, Hakande Hichilema, along with Prime Ministers from various African countries.
