The PAN party’s proposal was approved, despite opposition from the PSD and CDS-PP and abstention from IL. The proposal requires the government to reinstate “hidden visits to report any crime listed on the Electronic Complaint portal.”
The legislation also suggests that the government take necessary steps to allow complaints to be filed through the Electronic Complaint portal for the crime of violation of privacy via social media, the Internet, or other widespread public dissemination methods.
The party explains that this initiative aims to increase the methods available for reporting image-based sexual violence crimes. These enhancements were initially planned for the 2025 Budget but were not implemented.
Another unanimously approved proposal by PAN authorizes the government to “make the necessary budgetary changes” to “ensure the inclusion of domestic violence victims, who have been granted the respective status and are forced to leave their residence due to the crime, as beneficiaries of Porta 65+”.
The parliament also endorsed a PAN proposal requiring the government to technically and financially reinforce projects aimed at preventing and combating female genital mutilation, although no specific funding amount was detailed.
The party demands that “the government ensures, in collaboration with the Directorate-General for Health, the inclusion of data concerning female genital mutilation to improve official data on violence against women and domestic violence.”
