During the specialty vote on the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026), a proposal by the Chega party was approved. It mandates that in the first half of 2026, the government, in conjunction with Infraestruturas de Portugal and the municipalities of Viseu, Tondela, Santa Comba Dão, Penacova, and Coimbra, define and promote competitive tender processes for the urgent construction of the IP3 highway between Santa Comba Dão and Coimbra.
Lawmakers also approved a measure from Chega stating that “during the year 2026, the Government, in coordination with Infraestruturas de Portugal, will initiate the construction of the IC31 highway between Alcains/Castelo Branco and Termas de Monfortinho”.
Additionally, a proposal was validated for launching the international public tender for the construction of the IC6 between Tábua and the Folhadosa junction in the municipality of Seia in the next year.
