The Municipal Council of Arcos de Valdevez and the Volunteer Firefighters of Arcos de Valdevez have formalized a support agreement aimed at enhancing their activities, with an increased financial backing of 80,000 euros approved for this year.
“The Municipal Council supports the ongoing and investment activities of the Fire Department of Arcos de Valdevez, notably through the establishment of a support agreement for activity. This year, an increase in support to 80,000 euros has been approved,” stated an official communiqué issued to newsrooms on Wednesday.
The allocated funds are intended to “support the commendable work performed by this institution both in general and specifically within the municipality of Arcos de Valdevez.”
The communiqué further details that “through this agreement,” the two entities will collaborate in “areas of notification, alert, intervention, support, and rescue via the volunteer fire brigade,” adding that “there is collaboration with the municipal Civil Protection service in the implementation and coordination of forest fire prevention and surveillance programs.”
It additionally states, “Effective communication, whether via telephone, radio, or other means, is ensured at the Communications Center, 24 hours a day, throughout the year, along with pre-hospital emergency services, as a complementary reinforcement to the Basic Life Support (BLS), ensuring the continuation of quality standards in pre-hospital care for the population.”
“With these investments, the Municipal Council aims to provide residents with optimal means for the safeguarding of people and property, as well as to offer effective assistance when required,” concludes the note.
