
The legislative initiatives proposed by the Liberal Initiative party, aimed at simplifying the installation and licensing of social support equipment managed by private entities and recognizing profitable home support services, were rejected. The proposals were voted down by PCP, BE, PS, PSD, and CDS-PP.
Similarly, a bill from the Livre party intended to create a Public Support Residence Network for the Elderly was also dismissed, receiving votes against from PSD, IL, and CDS-PP, with PS abstaining.
The proposal from PCP to establish a Public Network of Equipment and Support Services for the Elderly did not pass, with PS, PSD, IL, and CDS-PP voting against it, while other parties supported it.
In a debate at the Republic Assembly on Thursday, PSD deputy Leonor Cipriano acknowledged the current limitations in support for the elderly, highlighting waiting lists for nursing homes. She argued that this is the reason the Government collaborates with the public, private, and social sectors.
