A 40-year-old man was arrested on the night of June 2, on suspicion of domestic violence against his minor son, in the Odivelas parish, Loures.
The arrest followed a call to the Public Security Police (PSP), where “the suspect’s ex-partner and their minor son approached the officers, at which point the partner stated that the suspect had just beaten the minor”, according to a statement sent to newsrooms this Thursday.
The child had, in fact, “several visible marks from the assaults”.
“When questioned, the suspect admitted to the assaults on the minor, adding that they were educational in nature.” At the scene were also another minor daughter and the suspect’s current partner, who agreed with the assaults,” the statement said.
The man was taken to the detention cells of COMETLIS and was ordered to stay 300 meters away from the victim and the ex-partner, and is prohibited from contacting them.
The couple’s other minor daughter was handed over to the suspect’s ex-partner. Additionally, as the current partner witnessed the assaults and “agreed” with them, without attempting to stop them, she was made a defendant and subject to identity and residence terms.
This operation was conducted by the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, through the Loures Police Division.
