The National Republican Guard (GNR) announced the arrest of a 24-year-old suspect on charges of disobedience, attempted aggravated assault, and criminal damage.
The incident occurred on Tuesday during a road inspection operation in Águeda.
“During the inspection, the driver of a vehicle was ordered to stop but did not comply, committing several offenses and endangering officers, ultimately colliding with the Guard’s vehicle,” the statement detailed.
The suspect was later located and intercepted in the neighboring municipality of Albergaria-a-Velha, behind the wheel of the damaged vehicle, and was arrested in flagrante delicto.
The GNR also noted that the vehicle used in the crime has been seized, and the detainee will appear before the Judicial Court of Águeda for pre-trial measures.
