Two men, aged 24 and 37, were arrested on April 2 for burglaries in homes and warehouses in the Peniche municipality.
The arrests occurred as part of an investigation into burglaries in residences and warehouses in the areas of Ferrel and Serra D’el Rei during 2024 and 2025, detailed the National Republican Guard (GNR) in a statement released to the media on Friday.
Authorities conducted two residential searches and two vehicle searches, which led to the arrest of the suspects.
The duo had previous criminal records for similar offenses. Regarding the 37-year-old detainee, who was at large, there was an outstanding arrest warrant issued in 2022.
The officers seized two bladed weapons, five speakers, a sound amplifier, a sound mixing desk, an electric oven, various jewelry items, and several cutting and/or breaking tools.
The detainees have been named as defendants, and the case has been reported to the Leiria Judicial Court.
The 37-year-old man will be sent to a correctional facility to serve his prison sentence.
This operation was conducted by the Territorial Command of Leiria, through the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) of Caldas da Rainha, with the support of the Public Security Police (PSP).
