The individuals in question were detained following arrest warrants issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office after two robberies that took place on June 7 and August 24, at different locations. The case is being handled by the 4th Section of the Department of Investigation and Penal Action (DIAP) of the Santarém district, with the assistance of the local PSP.
In a statement published on the website of the Évora Regional Attorney General’s Office, the prosecutor explains that the suspects approached the victims and, using physical force, seized money, mobile phone equipment, and debit cards.
According to the statement, the suspects used the cards in various banking operations through the contactless system, causing financial losses to the victims.
When presented before a judge, “one of the suspects, who was on parole, was given the coercive measure of pre-trial detention, and the other suspect was required to report twice a week to the police station in the area of his residence,” the statement reads.
