A 45-year-old man, subject to a European arrest warrant, was detained yesterday, Tuesday, August 26, in Viseu to serve a ten-year prison sentence for crimes related to organized crime and aggravated theft in France.
In a statement sent to Notícias ao Minuto, the Public Security Police (PSP) disclosed that the arrest occurred at 10 a.m. yesterday, on Rua D, António Alves Martins.
Following the arrest, the man was escorted by the PSP to the Court of Appeal in Coimbra, where it was ordered that he be immediately transferred to a prison facility and subsequently extradited to France to serve the sentence imposed.
