A 26-year-old man was arrested on May 2 on suspicion of drug trafficking in the Santa Clara district of Lisbon.
Authorities were initially called to the area in response to a public disturbance. Upon arrival, they noted suspicious behavior from two individuals within a group.
“One of them threw an object to the ground near a trash bin,” stated the Public Security Police (PSP) in a press release distributed to newsrooms on Wednesday.
The suspect subsequently entered a commercial establishment, where police found him “near boxes containing hashish and cocaine.”
“The object that the individual had thrown to the ground was later retrieved and found to be a knife with traces of drugs,” the statement added.
The PSP further reported finding €306.60 in cash during the search of the young man. They also confiscated 7.10 individual doses of cocaine, 11.36 doses of hashish, and a knife.
The detainee has been held at COMETLIS facilities pending judicial proceedings and has been placed under an Identity and Residence Term.
