The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) has suspended the operations of an economic operator due to “non-compliance with general and specific hygiene requirements” concerning the sale of fish as part of a nationwide operation.
Operation Harpoon, which targeted “wholesale operators that store and market fish products, such as cold storage or wholesale markets,” resulted in the inspection of a total of 45 economic operators, according to a statement released Monday by ASAE.
In addition to the suspension of activity, the organization reported that it had initiated two administrative offense proceedings for “non-compliance with food hygiene rules” and “lack of metrological control in weighing instruments.”
ASAE also seized a weighing instrument for lack of metrological control.
The entity assured that it “will continue to carry out inspection actions throughout the national territory, promoting food safety, the integrity of the supply chain, and fair competition in the sector.”
