In recent weeks, ASAE conducted a nationwide operation, inspecting 152 economic operators, including butcher shops and retail establishments with butcher sections.
During this effort, violations were uncovered, resulting in the initiation of a criminal case for illegal slaughter and 38 administrative offense proceedings, according to an official statement.
The main violations included a lack of prior communication and complaint books, non-compliance with hygienic and technical standards in the distribution, preparation, and sale of meats, absence of meat handler cards, and failure to conduct metrological control operations.
Additionally, over 82 kilograms of food products were seized due to non-compliance with traceability and labeling rules, along with seven weighing instruments due to lack of metrological control.
