The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) conducted an operation to inspect compliance with detergent labeling standards, resulting in the initiation of seven administrative offense proceedings and the seizure of various products valued at approximately 1,800 euros.

The operation, named ‘PURGATO’, was conducted nationally with the aim of verifying compliance with legal obligations related to the labeling of detergents. It also sought to ensure that economic operators marketing these products in the national market fully adhere to established requirements. This includes overseeing the prohibition of selling household and industrial cleaning products containing plastic microbeads.

As a result of the operation, ASAE announced in a statement this Thursday that “more than 60 economic operators were inspected, and seven administrative offense proceedings were initiated for various infractions.”

The infractions included the “absence of processes based on HACCP principles, lack of pricing on goods and translation, non-compliance with precedence principles applicable to hazard pictograms, as well as the display or sale of plant protection products that do not meet packaging and labeling requirements.”

The operation also resulted in the seizure of “various washing, conservation, and cleaning products, as well as two weighing instruments, with a value of approximately 1,850.00 euros.”
