ASAE seizes more than 214 thousand counterfeit clothing items

The National Unit for Information and Criminal Investigation of ASAE has announced the execution of several operations over recent weeks targeting the production and distribution of textiles in efforts to combat counterfeiting, imitation, and illegal use of brands.

As a result of these operations, authorities seized more than 214,270 garments displaying internationally renowned registered trademarks, textile accessories and transfers, stamps, molds, printing frames, metal applications, composition labels, along with five sewing machines and a button-fastening machine used in illegal activities.

The ASAE executed seven search warrants, both residential and non-residential, along with four digital search warrants, leading to the arrest of four individuals who have been charged and subjected to identity verification and residency conditions.

Seven criminal cases have been initiated for offenses related to counterfeiting, imitation, or illegal use of brands, as well as selling or concealing products, which are punishable under the Industrial Property Code.

These actions, which took place in the municipalities of Barcelos, Guimarães, Santo Tirso, and Fafe, focused on textile and packaging industries and the metal foundry industry dedicated to producing applications, stamps, and metal molds.
