ASAE suspends the activity of four establishments in Albufeira

The Food and Economic Safety Authority (ASAE) initiated ten administrative offense proceedings and suspended the activities of four establishments on Friday during an operation conducted in the tourist areas of Albufeira, in the Faro district.

In a statement sent to newsrooms on Saturday, ASAE indicated that the operation aimed to verify compliance with legal regulations in the “restaurant and beverage sector, convenience stores selling alcoholic drinks, grocery stores, among others, located in areas with high tourist beach traffic, in the Albufeira municipality.”

Throughout the action, 25 economic operators were inspected, resulting in “ten administrative offense proceedings.” The main offenses involved “the lack of assurance of the potability of water used in operations, absence of prior mere communication, and missing mandatory legal notices related to the sale and availability of alcohol, tobacco, among others.”

Following the detected irregularities, the activity of four establishments was suspended as a precautionary measure due to “violation of the general duties of the operator of the restaurant and beverage establishment and lack of assurance of the potability of water used in operations.”

ASAE further ensures that it will continue to conduct inspection activities nationwide to safeguard food safety and public health for consumers.
