A 55-year-old man was arrested this week for attempting to murder, alongside his son, a 54-year-old car repair shop owner in the Adaúfe parish. The crime took place on February 21, and the arrest occurred on Thursday, April 2.
The Polícia Judiciária reports that the suspect is strongly implicated in co-authoring a crime of qualified homicide, in its attempted form, having placed the victim in grave life-threatening danger.
The incident happened at the victim’s workshop after he refused to repair the vehicle belonging to the detainee and his 31-year-old son, “who has been missing since this episode.” Dissatisfied, the two men violently assaulted the victim, first using a wooden stick, followed by a knife and a brick.
According to a statement from the PJ, the victim suffered a penetrating stab wound in the abdominal area, resulting in serious injuries. He was transported to Braga Hospital, underwent urgent surgical intervention, and received subsequent treatment, remaining hospitalized for several days.
The detainee was brought before the competent judicial authorities at the Guimarães Court for an initial hearing and has been placed under preventive detention.
The case is under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department of Braga of the PJ.
