The new National Secretariat of the Socialist Party (PS) will be voted on by party members at the National Commission meeting on Saturday, following José Luís Carneiro’s election as party leader in an uncontested vote a week earlier.
José Luís Carneiro confirmed the appointments to this body, which have been accepted, including former deputy Sérgio Sousa Pinto, MEPs Ana Catarina Mendes and Francisco Assis, and the Mayor of Almada, Inês de Medeiros.
Departing from the National Secretariat are deputy and former minister Mariana Vieira da Silva, the Lisbon mayoral candidate Alexandra Leitão, and former minister Duarte Cordeiro, as confirmed by Vieira da Silva.
