A Associação Nuvem Vitória, which provides bedtime stories to children and teenagers hospitalized in major pediatric services nationwide, has launched the latest edition of its Christmas book “Vamos Sonhar Acordados?”.
The initiative was developed in partnership with Nhood and involves the participation of Alegro shopping centers and Fórum Montijo, where the book will be distributed for free by Santa Claus, who will be present in these locations.
This fifth edition of the book features 10 stories penned by Nuvem Vitória volunteers from across the country, celebrating childhood, inclusion, and diversity.
Illustrations for this edition were created by Isa Silva, joining the ranks of previous contributors such as Paulo Galindro, Natalina Cóias, Rita Correia, and Sérgio Condeço.
“The result is a visually striking book designed to captivate both young and adult readers,” states the association in a release shared with Notícias ao Minuto.
“This book is a hug in the form of words. Each story stems from the heart of our volunteers and reflects Nuvem Vitória’s spirit: bringing comfort where it’s most needed. We believe that, through this partnership, we can reach even further and foster a moment of emotional connection between those who read and those who listen to these stories,” asserts Fernanda Freitas, Executive President of Nuvem Vitória, in the same statement.
This small book by Nuvem Vitória is, above all, an invitation: to read, dream, and care. Integral to the association’s mission, these stories emphasize the significance of words as a tool for connection and comfort—both inside and outside hospitals.
Two More Hospitals and 140 New Volunteers
Nuvem Vitória, founded in 2016 and recognized as a Private Social Solidarity Institution (IPSS), gathers over 1,300 volunteers who nightly tell bedtime stories to hospitalized children and teenagers.
Recently, with support and funding from the Fundação La Caixa BPI, the association began volunteer activities in two new hospitals: Beatriz Ângelo (Loures) and Prof. Doutor Fernando Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra), and trained 140 new volunteers to join the two new Nuvem Vitória teams at each healthcare facility.
The training for the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital team took place on October 4 and 5, with volunteer actions commencing on November 3. Meanwhile, the training for the Amadora-Sintra Hospital team occurred on November 1 and 2, with activities starting on December 2.
