A 96-year-old man successfully completed a basic life support course in Madeira as part of the island’s strategy “Everyone Knows How to Resuscitate!” The Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) announced today.
In a statement, the SRPC described the participant as “an example for the community,” emphasizing the importance of being “increasingly resilient and prepared to respond to emergencies,” with the goal to “make a difference in someone’s life who needs help, whether on the street, at work, or at home.”
The “Everyone Knows How to Resuscitate!” initiative by the Regional Civil Protection Service includes three programs offering free and certified daily sessions aimed at the general public, the school community, and public services.
The SRPC aims to train 1,700 “rescuers” by the end of the year.
