The Executive Direction of the National Health Service (DE-SNS) warned this Thursday about the constraints that will occur during the upcoming weekend in emergency services, “especially in Gynecology/Obstetrics and Pediatrics in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley region.”

In a statement released on Thursday, officials urge users to always call the SNS 24/SNS Pregnant 808 242 424 hotline before going to a hospital.

“By calling the SNS 24/SNS Pregnant hotline – 808 242 424, the user is immediately subjected to a triage that allows for determining the most appropriate response for each case, thus relieving the emergency rooms for truly urgent cases,” officials explain in the statement.

The DE-SNS reports that on August 31 and September 1, “154 emergency services will be open, four referenced, and 13 closed. Of these, 9 refer to Gynecology and Obstetrics emergencies, with 7 located in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region.”

August 31 – Obstetrics/Gynecology Emergency
32 Open Emergency Services
3 Referenced Emergency Services
8 Closed Emergency Services (updating)

September 1 – Obstetrics/Gynecology Emergency
34 Open Emergency Services
4 Referenced Emergency Services
7 Closed Emergency Services (updating)

August 31 – Pediatric Emergency
38 Open Emergency Services
2 Referenced Emergency Services
4 Closed Emergency Services (updating)

September 1 – Pediatric Emergency
36 Open Emergency Services
2 Referenced Emergency Services
6 Closed Emergency Services (updating)

The DE-SNS also reports that it is monitoring the situation “by the minute” to ensure “network operation and access to health care for those in need.”

“The difficulty in guaranteeing medical teams this weekend has aggravated the constraints in some emergency services. The Executive Direction of the SNS thanks all doctors, nurses, and other NHS workers for their commitment and additional effort to which they are being subjected in order to fulfill the NHS mission, ensuring access to health care for all,” they conclude.
