Normal operations are reported across Portuguese airports, according to an official source from ANA Aeroportos de Portugal. The company is continuously monitoring the situation affecting other European airports.
LONDON – Heathrow, Europe’s largest airport, announced today that a technical issue with its billing and boarding provider could lead to delays in departures.
The announcement follows a statement by the Belgian airport authority indicating that Brussels Airport suffered a cyberattack against its check-in and boarding service provider, disrupting connections with several capitals, including Lisbon.
Heathrow, in a message via social network X, noted that Collins Aerospace, responsible for boarding systems across many global airports, is experiencing a technical problem potentially causing delays for departing passengers.
“While the provider works to resolve the issue quickly, we recommend passengers check their flight status with their airline before traveling,” the statement added.
Heathrow also advised travelers to arrive at least three hours early for long-haul flights or two hours for domestic UK flights to “minimize disruptions.”
The message from Heathrow came after Brussels Airport announced it was affected overnight by a “cyberattack” targeting the boarding services provider, also impacting hubs like Berlin.
This situation necessitated manual processes for check-in and boarding. The Belgian capital’s airport emphasized that the attack had a “significant impact” on the flight schedule.
