A 21-year-old man was arrested on November 13 after appearing with a knife near an educational institution in Aveiro, where two other young individuals were set to perform musically. Earlier, the pair had been assaulted by the suspect, who had approached them at their residence.
“The suspect went to the residence of two citizens, where he allegedly assaulted both with a glass bottle and later with a knife, causing minor injuries and issuing death threats,” detailed the Public Security Police (PSP) in a statement.
Given that the victims could face further attacks, as the young man knew they were participating in a musical performance at a local educational institution, the authorities discreetly policed the area, successfully intercepting the suspect.
“Upon approaching him, it was confirmed that he was in possession of a knife, consistent with the one used in the assaults, leading to its seizure,” added the PSP.
The young man did not justify his actions or the possession of the weapon, resulting in his arrest at 1 p.m. on Thursday.
He was later released and notified to appear at the Public Prosecutor’s Office Services at the Judicial Court of the Aveiro District the next day at 2 p.m.
