On Sunday, October 26, the EDP Marathon Cascais-Lisbon will take place. As a result, traffic and parking restrictions will be implemented, starting this Friday.
In a statement, the Lisbon Public Security Police (PSP) noted that from 8 a.m. this Friday, National Road 6-7 is experiencing restrictions.
Starting at midnight on Saturday, further restrictions will affect the same national road, Lombos Roundabout, and São Gonçalo Roundabout in Cascais.
From 6 a.m., traffic restrictions will begin on Rua do Ouro, Rua do Arsenal, and Praça do Comércio near the Rua Augusta Arch.
An hour later, Alameda Combatentes da Grande Guerra, the Bay of Cascais, Av. Rei Humberto II de Itália, Avenida da República in Cascais, and Avenida Marginal will follow.
At 8 a.m., the Riverside Zone between Algés and Praça do Comércio will be closed, as well as Avenida Ribeira das Naus.
By 9 a.m., Rua de S. Julião and Rua da Prata, as well as National Road 6-7 towards Carcavelos train station at Lombos Roundabout, extending to Avenida Marginal in Cascais, will be affected.
The police also state that from 8:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., the two rightmost lanes between the roundabout and Cascais Market will be reserved (Avenida 25 de Abril will be closed during this period).
During this time, the Public Security Police will implement necessary traffic cuts and diversions and provide citizens with optimal alternatives as needed.
The PSP offers safety advice, urging drivers to avoid the aforementioned streets and the surrounding areas to prevent traffic congestion; to follow instructions from officers along the race route to facilitate police actions without compromising their safety, that of others, or the sporting event.
Spectators are encouraged to watch from appropriate locations and are advised against crossing or moving through the athletes’ paths. Traveling on the indicated routes is strictly prohibited, regardless of the reason.
