Attention! ‘Move on the Marginal’ will cut traffic on the avenue on Sunday

Lisbon, Oeiras, and Cascais municipalities will come together on Sunday, September 21, to promote physical activity and encourage the adoption of healthier lifestyles among the population.

Avenida Marginal will be transformed into a space open for sports and active participation by the public and will therefore experience traffic interruptions.

The total of over 15 kilometers of road will be closed to vehicles, intended for travel on foot, by bicycle, scooter, skates, or skateboard, spanning from Alcântara (Lisbon) to Parede (Cascais).

Where will traffic be cut?

  • Between the Parede traffic lights and Alcântara
  • Avenida Ferreira Godinho will also be closed, with constraints on the IC17/CRIL viaduct (Algés) and N6-3 Alto da Boa Viagem
  • Between Mineral Dente roundabout (Bafureira) and the Nova SBE Roundabout (Carcavelos) – complete closure both ways from 09:00 to 14:00

Various activities will be available along the route, including climbing, pilates, tennis, surfing, sailing, orienteering, fitness classes, health screenings, inflatables, pedal vehicles, and traditional games.

The activity programs for Lisbon, Oeiras, and Cascais can be found through links located above the names of each municipality.

The councils also inform that on Saturday, from 18:00 until 09:00 on Sunday, access to several parking areas will be restricted, including Praia da Torre, Jardim de Paço de Arcos, Centro Náutico de Paço de Arcos, and Praça 25 de Abril (PAC Shell) in Algés.
