According to E-Redes, “during these interventions, operations, connections, repairs, or maintenance works are carried out on the infrastructure in a planned and controlled manner.”

“Temporary and short-duration interruptions occur when all available power supply alternatives are exhausted, in order to ensure the impact on Customers is minimized,” states the E-Redes website.

The company further advises that “for safety reasons, and in case the power supply is restored ahead of schedule or if technical tests are needed, all installations should be considered permanently live.”

“The scheduled maintenance work on the distribution network is carried out under articles 72 and 75 of the Commercial Relations Regulation of the Electricity and Gas Sector,” it adds.

E-Redes also notes that “as a result of this commitment, and as reported by CEER (Council of European Energy Regulators), E-Redes is considered a European benchmark regarding the execution of scheduled interventions with minimal impact on supply.”

Scheduled Power “Cuts” on Sunday in Seven Municipalities are “Regular” Situations

E-Redes clarified that the “scheduled cuts” in electricity due to network maintenance are “regular” maintenance situations.

“Nothing out of the ordinary,” a spokesperson from E-Redes told Lusa, adding that “such work is done every Sunday.”

The locations where “scheduled cuts” occur due to “maintenance work” are always communicated in advance on the company’s website.

According to the operator, “these interruptions also serve to correct situations that can generate instability in the electrical network and/or prevent failures.”
