“Temporary and short-term interruptions occur when all available power supply alternatives are exhausted to ensure minimal impact on customers,” according to the company.
For safety reasons, “in case of early restoration of power supply or the need for technical tests, it’s recommended that all installations be considered permanently energized.”
“Scheduled maintenance work on the distribution network is conducted under articles 72 and 75 of the Commercial Relations Regulation of the Electric and Gas Sector,” states E-Redes.
The company further asserts, “As reported by the CEER (Council of European Energy Regulators), E-REDES is recognized as a European benchmark in executing scheduled interventions with minimal impact on supply.”
“Electricity ‘Outages’ on Sunday in Seven Municipalities Considered ‘Regular’
E-Redes clarified that the “scheduled outages” of electricity due to network maintenance are “regular” maintenance situations.
“This is nothing out of the ordinary,” a source from E-Redes informed Lusa, adding that “such work occurs every Sunday.”
According to the same source, locations affected by these “scheduled outages” due to “maintenance work” are always pre-announced on the company’s website.
The operator mentioned, “These interruptions also address conditions that could create electrical network insecurity and/or prevent failures.”
