The Shared Services of the Ministry of Health (SPMS) issued a warning on Wednesday concerning a text message purportedly sent by the National Health Service (SNS) and SNS 24 regarding “outstanding amounts.”
“SPMS warns about fraudulent SMS communications in the name of SNS and SNS 24. These messages claim there are due amounts for ‘EMERGENCY’ services, needing payment within five days and include a link leading to a fraudulent webpage where a bank reference is provided for payment. Upon clicking ‘CONFIRM,’ individuals are asked to enter personal and bank card details,” stated the communication sent to newsrooms.
Therefore, SPMS cautions that this scam involves “a scheme of false messages” and urges people “not to click on the link, not to make any payment, and not to enter any personal or bank details”.
“Do not respond, do not click, and delete the message”, it advises.
It is important to note that “SNS services are generally free, and SNS 24 services are free for all citizens. The phone line 808 24 24 24 is a free public service.”
SPMS also reports that “actions are being taken with the competent authorities.”
