Residents of Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra, Tomar, Faro, Lagos, and Olhão will experience a power outage this Sunday, between 5:00 AM and 11:00 AM, due to scheduled maintenance on the distribution network, as announced by the operator E-Redes.
The E-Redes website states these are “pre-scheduled interruptions” aiming to “ensure the quality and reliability of electric service.”
“Maintaining the continuity and quality of electricity supply is E-Redes’ priority. For this purpose, localized work is carried out on the distribution network, necessitating a temporary power cut for customers,” the statement explains.
The municipalities affected include Lisbon, Oeiras, and Sintra (in Lisbon district), Tomar (Santarém district), and Faro, Lagos, and Olhão (Faro district).

The interruptions are scheduled for localized work on the distribution network. “During these interruptions, maneuvers, connection work, repair, or maintenance of network infrastructure are performed when all possibilities for alternative power supply from existing facilities are exhausted,” E-REDES elaborates.
In Lisbon, the Campolide parish, on Avenida Conselheiro Fernando de Sousa and Rua Professor Sousa da Câmara, will be affected, with the outage scheduled from 5:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
In Oeiras, power will be interrupted in the parish of Algés, Linda-A-Velha, and Cruz Quebrada-Dafundo between 7:00 AM and 11:00 AM.
In Sintra, work will affect the parishes of São João das Lampas and Terrugem between 6:00 AM and 11:00 AM, while in Tomar, the parishes of São João Batista and Santa Maria dos Olivais will see outages from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM.
In the Algarve, cuts are planned for the parishes of Montenegro (Faro), Quelfes (Olhão), and São Gonçalo de Lagos (Lagos) from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM.

On Sunday, “scheduled power cuts” will occur in areas of Lisbon, Oeiras, Sintra, Tomar, Faro, Lagos, and Olhão due to distribution network work. To prevent issues with appliances, it is advisable to turn them off.
During these interruptions, maneuvers, connection work, repair, or maintenance of network infrastructure are performed when all possibilities for alternative power supply from existing facilities are exhausted, according to E-Redes.
The operator states that “these interruptions also serve to correct situations that could generate network insecurity and/or prevent failures.”
