The Portuguese railway company, CP – Comboios de Portugal, announced the launch of a professional internship program aimed at attracting young talents to the rail sector. The program offers 40 positions.
The program, named CP TrainUP 2025/2026, consists of paid professional internships designed to attract 40 recently graduated young professionals ready to contribute to sustainable and innovative mobility in Portugal, according to a CP statement.
This initiative is set to begin in September of this year and will last for one year.
With a start date scheduled for September 2025 and a duration of 12 months, CP TrainUP aims to open doors for young graduates with up to two years of experience, providing them with robust training and a real opportunity for integration into the company, the statement reads.
Under the motto “Elevate Your Future,” the program seeks candidates who embody critical thinking, curiosity, eagerness to learn, interest in sustainable mobility and innovation, and strong communication and teamwork abilities, as per the released note.
CP is looking for youth with bachelor’s or master’s degrees in Management, Engineering, Information Technology/Mathematics, Architecture, Marketing/Digital, and Law.
The transportation company specifies that internships will take place at various locations across the country, including Lisbon, Porto, Entroncamento, and Vila Real de Santo António.
CP TrainUP provides both theoretical and practical training, covering areas from innovation to cybersecurity, including ethics and sustainability, with engagement in actual strategic projects and specialized mentorship from experienced professionals, the statement mentions.
Additionally, selected candidates will have access to a 12-month program with the possibility of integrating into the company afterward and will receive an internship grant, meal allowance, accident insurance, and transport amenities (CP vouchers).
The program further allows participants to contribute to CP’s future and the transformation of Portugal’s railway system.
Applications for this inaugural program edition are open until July 20, 2025. The selection process involves a curriculum review and interviews scheduled for August, according to CP – Comboios de Portugal.
