Auction of objects belonging to the fado singer Mísia reached 23 thousand euros.

Several items that once belonged to the late fado singer Mísia, who passed away in Lisbon in July of last year, were auctioned, including dresses, jewelry, feathers, shawls, hats, paintings, and photographs of the performer, some of which were previously unpublished.

The proceeds from the auction are intended for the construction of a tomb “worthy of her career,” according to Sebastian Filgueiras, one of the heirs of the creator of “O Manto da Rainha.”

Mísia is interred at the Cemitério do Alto de S. João in Lisbon.

A representative from the auction house indicated that “the items that fetched the highest prices were two paintings by artist Bela Silva, which had initial auction values of 600 and 400 euros, but each sold for 2000 euros.”

The representative also noted that “no public entity purchased any items.”

The Kees Eijrond Foundation, which acquired Mísia’s former home in Lisbon and transformed it into an artistic residence, expressed interest in acquiring some of the unsold items from the auction, according to its executive director Mirna Queiroz, although specific items were not disclosed.

The residence has already hosted the Jamaican-American choreographer and dancer David J. Amado, Brazilian writer Nuno Ribeiro, Portuguese transdisciplinary artist Francisca Neves, and Peruvian filmmaker Sebastian Alvarez.

Currently, Brazilian author Nara Vidal occupies the house in Alto de Santa Catarina. Next, it will host Argentine writer and historian Gastón Burucúa, choreographer Meg Stuart, and a group of artists conducting a laboratory as part of an independent film festival, as part of a project led by writer Alberto Manguel, according to Mirna Queiroz.

The fado singer Mísia, regarded as an innovator in the genre, died at 69 on July 27, 2024.

Born Susana Maria Alfonso de Aguiar in Porto, she enjoyed a career spanning approximately 34 years, during which she performed on various stages worldwide and received numerous awards.

Mísia released her debut album, self-titled, in 1991.
