
A 17-year-old youth has been apprehended by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) on Friday, accused of committing the crimes of qualified homicide and bodily harm, both involving the use of a bladed weapon. These incidents occurred on April 9 near a commercial establishment located in Cacém.
In a statement dispatched to the newsrooms, the PJ reported that investigative actions undertaken since the crime was reported revealed that the deceased victim, a 42-year-old woman, was fatally struck while attempting to mediate a conflict between the assailant and another victim, a 27-year-old man, who also suffered assaults involving a bladed weapon and physical force.
“Following the commission of the crime, the suspect, a 17-year-old youth, departed from his usual residence and was located early yesterday afternoon [Friday],” the statement indicated.
The PJ further disclosed that both the assailant and the victims are “foreign nationals.”
The detained individual is scheduled to appear before judicial authorities this Saturday at the Sintra Criminal Instruction Court for an initial interrogation and the imposition of coercive measures.
