The mayor explained that the situation involves 60 residents, including one person who is bedridden and will be accommodated at the Misericórdia de Nisa.
The rest of the population is being directed to the Municipal Pavilion of Nisa.
“We have the health delegate and a doctor here [at the pavilion], and we are receiving people to minimize negative impacts. No one is in panic, and things should go well. We have water, we have food, and we are following the recommended procedures,” she stated.
Early in the afternoon, part of the village of Vinagra was evacuated, with those individuals reportedly being taken to the homes of friends, according to the mayor.
In the same village, a woman became homeless, as reported by a source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command. It is unknown whether her house was completely or partially burned.
Regarding the wildfire, Idalina Trindade explained that they are awaiting the arrival of more resources, particularly from the Alentejo coast, with operatives from other regions of the country, such as the Médio Tejo area and Évora, already on the ground.
“We are trying to contain the fire. The wind does not allow much room for maneuver; however, what can be done operationally is being done, both with ground and aerial means. We will see if we can manage,” she said.
Another source from the Alto Alentejo Sub-Regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command indicated that the fire, which was reported at 12:32 pm today, is consuming a forested area with pine and eucalyptus trees.
At 5:00 pm, according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection’s website, the fire was being fought by 312 operatives, supported by 99 vehicles and four aerial means.
