Autumn is coming? It seems that (not) yet, but “periods of rain” are on the way.

Portugal is set to experience a rise in temperatures starting this weekend, although tomorrow, Wednesday, September 10, may bring “periods of rain.”

The Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA) reports that Wednesday will feature “generally very cloudy skies with periods of rain,” particularly affecting the northern and central regions of mainland Portugal.

There will also be “periods of rain, especially along the coast and in highlands,” with “fog or mist” until mid-morning.

Minimum temperatures will rise, while maximum temperatures will experience a “slight decrease in the northern and central interior.”

In the southern region, the sky will also be “very cloudy,” becoming “partly cloudy or clear from late afternoon.” There is a “possibility of light rain until the early afternoon.” A “slight increase in minimum temperature” will be recorded.

The same trend is expected in Greater Lisbon and Greater Porto, with a “rise in minimum temperature.”

Temperatures to Rise from the Weekend (up to 35ºC)

Mainland Portugal will see maximum temperatures increase over the coming days, expected to reach between 30 and 35 degrees in several regions over the weekend, announced the Instituto Português do Mar e da Atmosfera (IPMA).

According to a statement from IPMA, until Thursday, the weather will be influenced by a westerly stream, associated with weak frontal waves, bringing precipitation mainly on Wednesday, particularly in the northern and central regions.

Forecasts suggest that on September 14 and 15, temperatures will fluctuate between 30 and 35 degrees in the South, the Tagus Valley, and certain parts of the northern and central interior, “values above the normal for this time of year.”
