Gustavo Eiffel Avenue, located in the riverside area of Porto, was closed to traffic today due to heavy rain impacting the city, which has already caused 31 incidents, the Porto City Council confirmed.
“Gustavo Eiffel Avenue is closed to traffic due to a large water runoff from the cliff, a consequence of the ongoing precipitation in the city,” stated the Porto City Council in a note published on social media at 3:10 PM.
The municipality added that “the situation is being monitored by Civil Protection and the Municipal Police” and that the road will reopen “once the cleaning work by Águas e Energias do Porto is completed.”
According to the statement, between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM today, “the Municipal Civil Protection and the Firefighters responded to 31 incidents due to weather conditions, mostly street flooding and house infiltrations.”
“In case of emergency, contact 112 or the Porto Fire Brigade through the number 225073700,” the city council concluded.
