The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a yellow weather warning for the islands of Flores and Corvo, part of the Western group of the archipelago. The warning, which signals “occasionally heavy rainfall that may be accompanied by thunderstorms,” is in effect from today at 3:00 p.m. local time (4:00 p.m. in Lisbon) until 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
For the Central (including the islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa, and Terceira) and Eastern (São Miguel and Santa Maria) groups, the same warning applies from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The yellow warning, the least severe on a three-scale level, is issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological conditions.
