A baby was abandoned this morning near the headquarters of the Leiria Fire Brigade, Noticias ao Minuto confirmed with sources from the corporation.
The baby was discovered by a firefighter on duty at approximately 5:30 a.m., CNN reports, revealing that the child was in a shopping bag with milk and diapers placed beside it.
Noticias ao Minuto has learned that the baby was subsequently transported to Leiria Hospital.
The Leiria Fire Brigade has deferred further information on the incident to a later time.
