Two people, including a one-year-old baby and a 22-year-old young man, died on Friday afternoon following a collision involving two cars and a bus on National Road 256 (EN256), near Évora. The accident also resulted in five injuries, three of which are serious. What happened?
One of the vehicles reportedly crashed into the bus, and the bus, in turn, collided with a second car, as explained by a representative of the National Republican Guard (GNR) to Notícias ao Minuto.
The fatalities and the seriously injured—a 16-year-old teenager and two young women, aged 15 and 23—were all traveling in the same car, the source added.
The one-year-old baby was transported in critical condition to the hospital in Évora, where her death was later confirmed.
The two slightly injured individuals were passengers on the bus, and like the three seriously injured individuals, they were taken to the same hospital, according to the Central Alentejo Regional Command for Emergency and Civil Protection.

The first car was traveling from Reguengos de Monsaraz to Évora, while the bus was heading in the opposite direction.
The alert was raised at 6:03 PM, and traffic was subsequently halted in both directions near São Manços. Traffic resumed on one lane at 10:50 PM.
Forty emergency workers from the fire department, the National Institute for Medical Emergency, and the GNR were deployed to the scene, supported by 20 vehicles, including two emergency medical and resuscitation vehicles (VMER) from Évora and an Immediate Life Support (SIV) ambulance from Estremoz.
