
No aircraft managed to land or depart from the island of Madeira, according to information available on ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal’s website.
Almost all scheduled flights have been canceled throughout the day today, echoing the disruptions that occurred on Friday.
Additionally, it was reported that a Ryanair flight from Lisbon attempted to reach Madeira but ultimately returned, marked as diverted on the online schedule.
This weather situation also leaves Madeira and Porto Santo without connections, as Porto Santo Line, the regular maritime line concessionaire, canceled scheduled trips between the islands on Friday and today, citing a lack of safety conditions for passengers and the Lobo Marinho ferry.
The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has issued a red warning, the highest level, for the northern coast of Madeira and Porto Santo due to severe sea disturbance until 3:00 PM today.
Heavy rainfall and winds have placed Madeira under an orange warning until Sunday.
The Madeira archipelago is experiencing the effects of depression Emília, characterized by strong winds, snowfall, and potentially intense rainfalls.
