
Diverse incidents were reported in the municipalities of Ponta Delgada, Lagoa, and Ribeira Grande, as confirmed by the Regional Service of Civil Protection and Firefighters of the Azores.
Firefighters, municipal civil protection services, and the Public Security Police have been present at the sites to provide assistance and address the various situations.
Meanwhile, the meteorological warning from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA), currently in effect due to the forecast of heavy rain, was upgraded to orange for the districts of Aveiro, Coimbra, Guarda, Leiria, and Viseu.
These five districts are now under an orange warning, which is intermediate on a three-level scale, until 3 p.m. today, during which “heavy and persistent precipitation” is expected.
Under a yellow warning, the least severe, are the districts of Castelo Branco, Lisbon, Portalegre, and Santarém until 3 p.m. due to heavy rain, while in Porto, this alert will end earlier, at noon.
The weather in mainland Portugal, particularly in the northern and central regions, is being affected by the effects of depression Benjamim.
