The National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC) recorded a total of 264 incidents due to adverse weather conditions, from midnight on Friday to 6 p.m. this Saturday.
ANEPC operations officer José Rodrigues indicated that the majority of incidents were recorded in the Lisbon and Tagus Valley area, as well as in the Alentejo region, with some occurrences in Beja.
Most of these incidents involved flooding, with additional reports of road clean-ups, fallen trees, structural collapses, and landslides.
The highest number of incidents occurred between 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.
A total of 736 personnel, supported by 278 land vehicles, were involved in the operations on a day when a “blue level special alert state” was in effect. This is expected to end by midnight, provided there are no changes or updates from the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

Hugo Santos, the sub-regional commander of Greater Lisbon, reported that heavy rains caused the Trancão River to overflow in the Flamenga area, resulting in the closure of traffic and the necessity to evacuate some individuals from their vehicles.
“The current information indicates that between 30 and 40 people are being relocated to a dry and safe area after becoming isolated due to intense rainfall in this region”, he stated, noting that the operation was ongoing as of 7 p.m.
According to the commander, those being relocated included individuals in vehicles and some in residences.
Hugo Santos also mentioned that homes have been flooded in this part of Loures and in Odivelas.

The heavy rain that fell this afternoon, especially in the neighborhoods of Odivelas and Loures, required some individuals to be evacuated from their vehicles in the Flamenga area, according to Civil Protection authorities.
