As the Azores brace under a yellow weather alert, issued due to anticipated heavy rain and thunderstorms, multiple incidents have already been reported. By 12:44 local time, regions of Terceira Island, including Angra do Heroísmo and Praia da Vitória, experienced three floodings, coupled with a landslide on São Jorge Island in the Calheta municipality. According to the Civil Protection and Fire Service of the Azores (SRPCBA), the landslide blocked access to Fajã dos Cubres, occurring at the same location as an event reported on October 8.
The route is currently obstructed, yet there is no immediate danger to the population. The Municipal Civil Protection Service of Calheta is on-site, coordinating necessary operations. In Angra do Heroísmo, a residential flooding occurred without displacement needs, while Praia da Vitória witnessed a roadway flooding and another unspecified structure incident.
The entire Azores archipelago remains under the yellow alert, classified as the least severe on a three-level scale. This precaution, set to last until 6:00 a.m. Thursday, is activated when meteorological conditions pose potential risks to certain activities, as specified by the Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
