A heavy vehicle crashed early Wednesday on the A19 in Leiria, resulting in one injury.
The incident was confirmed by the Leiria Volunteer Firefighters, who reported receiving the alert around 5:15 a.m.
Upon arrival, the driver was “already out of the vehicle,” sustaining only minor injuries. Therefore, there was no need for hospital transport.
The accident occurred in the North-South direction, partially obstructing traffic. As of this morning, around 9:30 a.m., the road is still “blocked.”
The crash is linked to poor visibility and rain in the area, on a morning when most of Portugal is on orange alert due to precipitation. Thunderstorms also startled many residents, particularly along the coast. The intense meteorological activity can be viewed here.
