Bad weather. Eleven maritime bars closed to all navigation.

The Navy’s webpage reports the closure of the bars of Caminha, Douro, Vila Praia de Âncora, Esposende, Póvoa de Varzim, and Vila do Conde in the northern region of the country.

In Aveiro and Figueira da Foz, the navigation bars face restrictions: the former is closed to vessels shorter than 15 meters, while the latter only permits access to boats exceeding 11 meters.

In the central region, Portinho da Ericeira’s bar is shut, and in the south, the bars of Albufeira, Alvor, Vila Real de Santo António, and Tavira are closed, with Portimão’s access limited to vessels under 15 meters.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere forecasts waves on the western coast from the west/southwest reaching 3.5 to 4.5 meters, potentially hitting five meters south of Cape Espichel.

The southern coast is expected to experience waves up to 3.5 meters high.

In addition to maritime disturbances, the IPMA predicts heavy rain today, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds with gusts.
