The Administration of the Ports of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (APRAM) announced that three cruise ships scheduled to arrive today have canceled their visits. These include the Oceania Marina with 1,185 passengers, the Iona with 5,344 passengers, and the Wind Star with 120 passengers.
The Oceania Marina has rerouted to the Canary Islands, the Iona to Cadiz, and the Wind Star is now heading towards Gibraltar.
Two other ships have altered their routes this week: the Marella Explorer 2 on Wednesday and the Seven Seas Grandeur on Thursday.
On Friday, around 18:00, the cruise ship Vasco da Gama successfully docked at Funchal Port, assisted by a port administration tugboat.
APRAM also reported that the cruise ship AIDAmar is expected to arrive on Sunday at 07:00, with an estimated departure to Hamilton at 19:00.
The Funchal Port captaincy has extended warnings of strong winds and rough seas until 06:00 on Sunday.
The regional authority advises the maritime community and the general public to exercise caution both at sea and in coastal areas.
Recommendations include reinforcing moorings, closely monitoring moored vessels, avoiding coastal walks, and refraining from recreational fishing.
