The districts of Viseu, Guarda, Santarém, Lisbon, Leiria, Castelo Branco, Aveiro and Coimbra are under an orange warning due to persistent rain, sometimes heavy, accompanied by wind.
The districts of Bragança, Porto, Vila Real, Setúbal, and Portalegre are also under a yellow warning due to rain.
The forecast indicates rain, sometimes heavy and persistent, especially in the Centro region, gradually decreasing in intensity and frequency from north to south, and wind with more intensity on the western coastal strip and in highlands.
In the North region, the sky is expected to be very cloudy, clearing up at the coast in the morning and inland in the afternoon.
The IPMA also notes an overall drop in minimum temperature.
For the Centro region, very cloudy skies are expected, clearing up from late afternoon, with rain sometimes heavy and persistent, gradually decreasing in intensity and frequency from the coast to inland from the morning.
Wind light to moderate (up to 30 kilometers per hour) from the west quadrant, sometimes strong (up to 40 km/h), with gusts up to 60 km/h, on the coastal strip until early morning and in highlands until mid-afternoon, gradually turning to north/northwest.
For the South, the forecast is for very cloudy or overcast skies, clearing up in the Algarve’s leeward and periods of rain, “sometimes heavy,” but generally “light and more likely from late afternoon in the Algarve,” according to the IPMA in a statement.
In Greater Lisbon, very cloudy skies will give way to clearings from late afternoon, and rain will decrease in intensity and frequency also from the afternoon.
In Greater Porto, an identical improvement is expected starting this morning.
