The most affected region was Lisbon and Tagus Valley, with 548 incidents, followed by the Center (277), North (216), Alentejo (78), and Algarve (4), according to the National Authority for Emergency and Civil Protection (ANEPC).
Of these incidents, 249 occurred in the Greater Lisbon sub-region, the most affected area in mainland Portugal.
In total, from 00:00 to 22:00 today, 4,197 operatives were mobilized, supported by 1,482 land resources.
The type of incidents reported included 526 floods, 263 fallen trees, 150 road cleanings, 137 structural collapses, 49 landslides, and one water rescue.
The ANEPC reported that the water rescue took place in the morning at Praia do Sul, Ericeira, in the municipality of Mafra, in the Lisbon district, with “two injured transported to the hospital” with minor injuries.
Later in the morning, “one person was displaced in Paço de Arcos [Oeiras municipality, Lisbon district],” due to damage to the residence.
In a report by 23:00, ANEPC highlighted a decrease in the number of incidents since mid-afternoon.
Warnings remain in place due to sea agitation along the western coast, advising precaution near the coastline.
Mainland Portugal is being impacted by a moderate to strong frontal system causing rain, thunderstorms, and wind, according to the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).
According to E-Redes, about five thousand customers were without electricity at 17:30 today due to the adverse weather conditions.
An initial assessment by E-Redes indicated that at 12:00, nearly 25,000 customers were without power, and with the expected improvement in weather conditions in the afternoon, the provider anticipated “quickly resolving all constraints.”
E-Redes activated the alert status from 20:00 on Tuesday due to the forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms and has assured that it “will remain active and engaged in resolving any issues affecting customers.”
